Confirmation for
Adults
There are
currently two programs at St. Paul Catholic Church which prepare adults
for Confirmation.
RCIA
(Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults)
is an ongoing program for adults seeking to enter into our
Catholic faith. Classes are held each Thursday evening.
Catechumens (unbaptized) and candidates (baptized) are welcomed into
our parish community each year at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
Contact Ann Dufour at 916-689-2611.
Catholic Update
is a program designed for those who are over 14 years of age who
have been baptized in the Catholic Faith but have not received the
sacrament of Confirmation. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings at
7:00 pm. The program begins each year in October and runs through
May. Students receive confirmation with the CFF students in May of
each year. Those registering for this class should bring a copy of
their baptismal record with them to the first meeting. Contact
Lennie Heimericks at 916-689-3932 or Ray Brosterhous at
916-684-4816.

The Sacrament of
Confirmation in the Catholic Church
"Now when the
apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received
the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who
came down and prayed for them that they might receive
the Holy Spirit; for it had not yet fallen on any of
them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the
Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they
received the Holy Spirit" (Acts 8:14-17).
Baptism, the
Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Confirmation together
constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation,"
whose unity must be safeguarded. Confirmation perfects
Baptismal grace; it is the Sacrament which gives the
Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the
divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into
Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate
us more closely with her mission, and help us bear
witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by
deeds.
