Holy Orders is the Sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time.
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is, like all the Sacraments, a gift from God. Each one of us is called to serve the Lord; some are called to serve as priests, deacons and others in the ordained religious community.
There are three degrees of Holy Orders; the espiscopacy (bishops), the presyterate (priests), and diaconate (deacons) listed in the reverse order of ordination.
All families of St. Paul Parish are encouraged to help their children listen for the call of God. We often use the term "discernment" when talking about this process which simply means "to know" or "to find out". If you believe you or someone you know has a call to serve God as a member of the ordained Catholic community, call Father Joyle Martinez at 916-381-5200. You may also contact the Vocations Committee of St. Paul Parish by calling the office at 381-5200.
You may also contact the Diocesan Office of Priestly and Religious Vocations at 916-733-0258.
